Me

Paolo Camilli

My name is Paolo Camilli, I’m an actor, comedian and content creator.

I was born in Civitanova Marche and I grew up in Porto Sant’Elpidio, in the Marche region, homeland of the Made in Italy shoes.

Just like many other people of my region, my parents worked as shoemakers: they owned a shoe upper factory and I spent my childhood playing in the countryside and inside their workshop. I had so much fun applying the strengthening stripes to the uppers, quilting some canvas pieces, and secretly playing with some mastic. I once even crushed my finger in a sort of metal anvil that is used to hammer the uppers.

Unfortunately, at the end of the 1990s, due to a severe crisis in the footwear industry, my family was forced to shut down their factory.

Back then, I remember I felt sorry for them but not for me.
After all, I had different dreams and paths to undertake.

Now that I’m an adult, though, I feel closer to my roots, as if being distant from home reminded me of every step that got me to where I am now. And suddenly, that world I though had nothing to do with me became a need. One day, when I went back home, I met my aunt Simona Camilli, the artisan talent of my huge family. Despite having a very different private and work life, I saw in her those “magnet” values that always bring me back there, to the place where I was born. I understood that the synergy between our outlooks could have created new paths: a way of telling my story and writing down never seen pages of my life, which are characterized by the courage to take brand new steps.
